Philani is a South African born visual artist and has been drawing since he could hold a pencil. He works in the media of oil and acrylic paint, ceramic,wood cut print, sculpture and drawing. He draws inspiration from the human form, particularly portrature.

He has exhibited in various collective exhibitions at Durban Art Gallery, Steve Biko Art Gallery (Durban University of Technology), Kizo Art Gallery, African Art Centre, Menzi Mchunu Gallery (BAT Centre), 2010 Shanghai World Expo (China), 2013-2014 traveling exhibition in four State galleries in Moscow (Russia) and Serbia along Makhaya Art & Culture development programme, a private exhibition in Rotterdam (Netherlands) 2014, 2016 Collective exhibition at Isabella Art Gallery in Pretoria.

Philani also auctioned his work at the “Long Walk To Freedom” Nelson Mandela movie launch. His work is held in many private collections including KPMG Durban, TransNet Heard Office (Durban Kingsmid), Mandela Foundation, WipHold, Chief Albert Luthuli Museum, Durban International Convention Centre (ICC), KwaZulu Natal Department of Arts & Culture (Museum)...
He has also done a numerous amount of commissioned work such as 2010 University of
KwaZulu Natal Commemorational Awards (Trophy design),”2016 We Can Archievement
Awards” (Trophy design), Portnet Natal Museum, Steve Biko Memorial Lecture, Cothoza
Music Awards along Ladysmith Black Mambazo, several privately owned organisations and many more...
